Jeep cherokee has good alternator, new battery and will not start, electrical? it was taking a jump. not no mor

check your starter motor...Jeep cherokee has good alternator, new battery and will not start, electrical? it was taking a jump. not no mor
I would check all your connections first. Does the starter motor turn? If not, it could be you Neutral Safety Switch (NSS) or starter motor itself.

If it is your NSS, it usually will only take about 2 hours of removing it and cleaning it and replacing it to make it work. Check out the link below.

If it doesn't turn over, even when jumped, charge the battery or let the other vehicle do it before you try to start it.

If it turns over but won't start, that's a whole nuther troubleshooting area.

GOOD luck.Jeep cherokee has good alternator, new battery and will not start, electrical? it was taking a jump. not no mor
Is the starter turning over? Also check cables and check make sure cable from battery to starter is not burnt up!! Seen them fry and not send current to turn starter?

I agree with the other responses. Check the starter first. But also, check the ignition coil. Without it, no spark. If it's dying, you may get random misfires that turn into stalls and, eventually, no starting. The coil is generally cheap and easy to replace too. Always make sure your terminals, connections, and hoses are clean and connected securely, even your relays and fuses. If all else fails, borrow a friends scanner tool and see if any trouble codes pop up. Not all faults or codes trip the ';Check Engine'; light. You can also go to a local car parts store and they may be able to scan your Jeep for free. (I think they only diagnose 96+ models though.)
It's probably your starter.

If not, it could also be something called the ';neutral safety switch.'; They usually run anywhere from $200-$400, so hopefully it's your starter!
Is the motor getting fuel? Is there a good strong blue spark or any spark at all? There's numerous possibilities for the motor not to start but if you verify the above it'll narrow down some of the obvious.. If you have a OHMs tester handy or can barrow one for a day or 2 test with the key on to the spark sensor and work your way around to the various sensors and fuses.. You only need to do testing if everything else is working properly Hope this helps I've done this to good sucess in the past..:-))
are the battery terminals corroded? clean the terminals real good.
