My nephew lost his passsport and had a get a new one - is he safe from identity theft now? or should he do mor?

He had been Israel last week and left (forgot) his original one in a car he rented, I believe. My nephew lost his passsport and had a get a new one - is he safe from identity theft now? or should he do mor?
Athe the point where your nephew reported the passport lost, the US Department of State AND the INS cancelled his lost passport. Whoever found it in Israel cannot leave the country with. The passport has a bar code which shows up on the code transcriber as being cancelled. Anyone caught TRYING to use this passport would be arrested and probably do time in jail.My nephew lost his passsport and had a get a new one - is he safe from identity theft now? or should he do mor?
If it ends up in the wrong hands they may be able to cause some serious problems for your nephew. It wouldn't hurt to purchase identity theft insurance. Some of the better companies will do all the restoration work including legal if your nephew does become a vicitm. I use SOLUS ID. Their website is http://www.solusid.com.
