i have only owned my computer since August so i can't understand why my battery isn't charging anymore or why i can't use my microsoft office word. There are a few things you need to check.





First, most likely you only got a TRIAL version of ';Office Word'; with the laptop. You need to BUY the full version. Read the directions that came with the laptop for information about what version the computer came with.





As far as it not charging anymore, it is most likely one of two things.





First, try removing the battery, unplug it from the wall and then hit the power button. This will clear any voltage built up in the capacitors on the motherboard.





Then put the battery back in and try powering it up, if it works with only the battery, plug in the AC power and see if it charges.





If not, try wiggling the AC plug where it plugs into the laptop. It should not have a lot of wiggle room and should fit rather snugly.





If it is loose, then you most likely damaged the AC recepticle of the laptop. That plug is VERY fragile, and can be broke by simply bending it or bumping it while it is plugged in.





If that is the case, it is not covered under warranty and you will have to pay to have it fixed.





Either way, you should bring it back to where you bought it, as it is still under warranty. Either that or call around to local repair shops, and ask them if they are HP service centers.I have a hp pavilion laptop and for some reason widow vista isn't working and the battery won't charge any mor

You should give HP a call; your laptop is still under warranty.





As for Microsoft Office, did you purchase it separately or are you using the version that came with the laptop? HP's come with a demo version of Office that can only be used a limited number of times before you have to buy it. So make sure that's not the case.
