Why are some societies mor advanced than others?

This is in relation to cultural anthropologyWhy are some societies mor advanced than others?
Advanced is probably not the right word. There are some cultures that have acquired certain technologies in agriculture and defense that make them dominant. Those societies that have acquired agriculture such as the Aztecs in South America or the Bantu in Africa had a much more successful means to accumulate a steady supply of food. It resulted in a division of labor which enabled them to form armies to conquer other less ';advanced'; cultures. The acquisition of steel and guns has more obvious advantages. Why are some societies mor advanced than others?
Read ';Guns germs and steel'; by Diamond. This question takes several hundered pages to answer properly, which he does.

you don't want to read a whole book though huh? allright..... basically, it's because certain nations were lucky and got the right crops, animals, geogrpahy, germs, and other factors. Nations like Papua New Guinea got very little in the way of natural resourses. You need certain things to advance as a society.
as in present day?

i think it has to do with communication. internal and external. the more communication, exchange of ideas and trade that goes on, the more a society can mutate and often advance.
Education.
as societies are presented with new problems they adapt. if societies evolve without many new problems the need to adapt is limited. those who need to adapt more tend to become more civilized.
How do you mean, advanced? A more complicated or technological society is not necessarily more ';advanced';. It's sort of like with creatures- yeah, a tiger is a lot more complicated than an amoeba, but they both get the job done.
Some societies have better leaders more farm land for food and a good educational system.
The key to answer this question is how do you define an ';advanced'; society or civilization?
